DIC at Extremes
Dr. Calvin Stewart and his team at The Ohio State University are working at the extremes. In 2021, Dr. Stewart founded the Materials at Extremes Lab (MATX) and began to assemble the tools and personnel he needed to push the boundaries of “advanced manufacturing, mechanical testing, and theoretical mechanics of materials subject to thermal, mechanical, and chemical extremes.”
Large-Scale, Multi-System DIC Down Under
Correlated Solutions and Blink Technology Australia recently assisted Kevin Nievaart and his team at Swinburne University of Technology to successfully deploy the multi-system digital image correlation registration procedure which combines data from two or more VIC-3D DIC systems. This procedure provides a common coordinate system without any overlapping requirements and can dramatically reduce the effort and time needed to interpret and analyze deformation data. Ultimately, streamlining workflows with VIC-3D boosts the performance and research efficiency of the Smart Structures Lab. Special thanks to Kevin and his team for all the hard work!
Using DIC to Measure the Shape of Sound and Vibration
This technical presentation was given by Correlated Solutions sales engineer Bluejay Robinson at the 2022 IMAC-XL on Feb 8, 2022 in Orlando, FL and highlights the powerful VIC-3D HS FFT digital image correlation system. This three axis, non-contact, full-field optical measurement system can accurately determine the amplitudes and phase changes of operational deflections shapes (ODS) in the frequency domain.
Fast, Protective, Warm, Beautiful - Developing High-Tech Fabric for the Winter Olympics with DIC
To prepare for the Beijing Winter Olympics (February 4th-20th), a research team led by Professor Liu Li, Director of the National Winter Sports Apparel Equipment R&D Center and Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, undertook a special R&D project to develop cutting-edge, high-performance, competition apparel for the Chinese Winter Olympic Team. Professor Liu Li and her team of engineers understood that each component of sportswear must adapt to the movement of the body, and they describe the relationship between the structure of clothing and the needs of the human body like the relationship between serving and being served. Therefore, an understanding of the structural design of the moving parts of the body is particularly important in the design and production of competition clothing.
Dual-sided, Laser-marked, Speckled Calibration Targets
Correlated Solutions continues our tradition of DIC innovation with new dual-sided laser-marked speckled calibration targets. These new targets enable two facing VIC-3D systems to be calibrated together which combines data into a common coordinate system.
Introducing VIC-3D Version 9.4
The development of the VIC-3D digital image correlation system continues at a blistering pace. Taking our lead from customer requests and advancing digital technology, Version 9.4 of our flagship, industry-leading system brings significantly more agile and powerful features
